Why does the Yao family hunt Wang Lin?

The feud is old: the family patriarch, the Blood Divine Son, once nearly killed Wang Lin. When Wang Lin returns to Luo Tian, the Yao family sees him as a threat to be wiped out. His reputation as the “Demon Daoist” and the treasures he carries also make him a fat target for anyone who wants the family’s favour.

What is the Heavenly Dome Order?

The Heavenly Dome Order (天穹令) is a bounty the Yao family issues across Luo Tian. Once it is out, cultivators everywhere can attack the target for the reward – so Wang Lin faces not only the Yao family but countless bounty hunters. The donghua shows it as red beams spreading across the planets: nowhere is safe.

The main hunters

  • Yao Changdong: a direct third-generation heir at early Nirvana Scryer whose dao insight, “Glory”, is built on the prestige of his ancestors; he wields a nineteen-sword formation and carries protective treasures from the patriarch.
  • Yao Bingyun, the Cold Phoenix: extremely fast thanks to Shrinking the Earth – with motives more complex than family orders.
  • Bounty hunters: most famously the battle on the Xuan Chen star, where around 28 cultivators surround Wang Lin.

How Wang Lin strikes back

  • Breaking Yao Changdong (episode 163): Wang Lin attacks the root of the “Glory” insight with his karma dao insight and shatters Yao Changdong’s dao heart; the body is swallowed by the Divine Shooting Chariot and the soul trapped in his Soul Flag.
  • Driving off the Cold Phoenix: the Nine Extremes Soul-Damaging Formation leaves Yao Bingyun badly injured.
  • Wang Yue’s wrath (episode 165): chased relentlessly, he turns the rage of the creature Wang Yue against his pursuers.
  • In the novel: the hunted becomes the hunter – the Blood Divine Son himself ends up fleeing and is destroyed by Wang Lin.
